Our Schools

The State of Missouri consistently recognizes Liberty Public Schools as one the state’s best school districts. Liberty School District has been named a "High Performing School District" by the state of Missouri for six consecutive years.

“High Performing” is Missouri's highest accreditation ranking. Liberty students consistently score above state and national norms on standardized tests and more than 86 percent of graduates pursue higher education. Liberty Public School District covers approximately 85 square miles in Clay County, Missouri and serves Liberty, Glenaire, along with portions of Kansas City and unincorporated Clay County.  The district currently operates 9 elementary schools, 2 middle schools, 2 junior high schools, and one high school.  A second high school is scheduled to open in 2010.

william jewell collegeLiberty, Missouri  is also home to the nationally recognized William Jewell College, one of the oldest private colleges in Missouri. William Jewell College is a four-year liberal arts college founded by members of the Missouri Baptist Convention and other civic leaders including Robert James, father of Frank and Jesse James. The college is named after Dr. William Jewell, who in 1849 donated $10,000 to start a Baptist school. It was the first four-year men's college west of the Mississippi River. In 2001, Jewell was chosen by Time Magazine as Liberal Arts College of the Year.
